You can imagine my surprise when I opened the Pet Tales mail today and discovered a check for $99.95!
Well, thank you very much.
Not so fast, sticky fingers.
The money is heading to The Register’s fifth edition of its Pet Adoption Section. Animals shelters from Orange County cities work with The Register to promote faces of pets in need of new homes. Readers can support the pages and the pets through with a sponsorship, which is exactly what showed up in the mail.

Animalia, a pet store in Huntington Beach, submitted three sponsorships at $19.99 each. Thank you, Animalia!

The money pays for the pages on which the shelter will publish pet photos with the shelter’s contact information. The project puts readers close to the faces of the pets, and ultimately leads to adoptions.
Sponsors can choose between an “In Memory Of” or “Sponsored By” contribution.
To sponsor a pet, call 800-660-0865 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Choose Option 3 to speak to a representative or email adsnow@ocregister.com.
Look for Pet Adoption pages in the Register’s Life section Nov. 16. Sponsorships must be placed by Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 5 PM.
