Update: Dog attacked by coyote clears quarantine

We’re just full of good news today at Pet Tales. On the heels of Thanksgiving, we’re happy to report another reason to be thankful for our pets and their rescuers.
Back in late May a small dog was found badly hurt in Fountain Valley’s Mile Square Park. The bichon frise mix had been attacked, likely by a coyote.

No owner came forward, so the injured dog was sent to the Orange County Animal Care shelter. Buffy Schnurbusch with Bichon FurKids, a nonprofit dog rescue group, enabled her troops and came to the dog’s rescue.
Six months later, the dog has a name, Miley, and a new home. Now that’s she’s free from quarantine, she should be cleared for “official” adoption soon. Here’s the update from Buffy:
According to Miley’s foster mom, Ruth, the smiling picture (top photo) was taken right after an animal control officer left yesterday, informing Miley that she was a free girl and that her 6-month quarantine was over.
Miley ran in and jumped on her bed and gave a big smile! Thanks everyone who helped make this possible. And especially to Ruth Butler for fostering her for 4 months, to Dr. Glass and all the folks at Stonecreek Animal Hospital for keeping Miley for two months and providing her wonderful medical care at no charge, and to the folks at OC Animal Control for allowing us to take Miley into our care.
Congratulations to Bichon FurKids and Ruth for a job well done. We suspect Miley will be forever grateful.
Speaking of holidays, if you’ve got some time over the long holiday weekend, consider visiting your local animal shelter. Even if you don’t adopt a pet, the animals would sure appreciate a visit from a smiling face.

This is so great! I wish more of the many animals at the animal shelters could be saved as well. A big thanks to all involved in helping this little cutie have a chance, it’s people like you that I have so much respect and appreciation for. Yay for animal heros!

Glad to see someone showing that they care! Our pets care and love us unconditionally and give us their thanks *everyday*, not just on Thanksgiving. Dogs are cool too.
I’m so thankful I’m free, yes, my special treat was watermelon..I also rolled in the grass & loved letting the wind blow my ears back, this is all new fun for me, Mom says I’m learning about the big wonderful world out there!,,I am loved very much, thanks folks, Miley the miracle dog!
